Information Management (IM) is the discipline of applying best practices, standards, and technology to ensure that information is properly managed throughout its lifecycle. This course will provide participants with the fundamentals of IM including key terms, business drivers, technology tools, compliance requirements, and industry standards.

At the end of the course, students will:

Understand what information management is, why it is important and why organizations are concerned about it
Know what legislation impacts the way organizations must manage their information
Get an overview of international and Canadian standards for information management
Learn about related disciplines and how they all fit together
Learn about IM resources and how to obtain more information
