Approved by the ARMA-NRC (Ottawa) Board of Directors on March 30 th , 1999.
This award, which is sponsored by ARMA International, was established to specifically recognize the most outstanding member in each Chapter for the year. In evaluating the candidates, emphasis is given to the member's participation in and contribution to the Chapter's activities. Only one name shall be submitted per chapter.
The "Chapter Member of the Year Award" shall include the following:
a) The recipient will receive a plaque provided by ARMA International. The plaque includes the ARMA International Logo, the name of the recipient and the year the award was presented.
b) The name of the recipient will be added to the roll of honour. The roll of honour is a scroll with the name of all the recipients inscribed and the year each award was presented.
c) The roll of honour shall be retained by the Chairman of the Awards Committee and will be displayed at appropriate Chapter functions throughout the year.
d) The Award Recipient will have the opportunity to attend the next ARMA International Conference in accordance with Chapter's policy on _Subsidizing Members Representing the Chapter at ARMA Sponsored Events and/or Functions_. If the Award Recipient wishes to participate in an educational opportunity other than the ARMA International Conference, he may negotiate with the Awards Committee. However, any alternate educational opportunity would need to be directly related to the records and/or information management field and would need to be approved by the Awards Committee and by the Board of Directors.
To be considered for this award, a candidate must meet the following criteria:
a) The individual must be a current member of the Chapter at the time the nomination is received.
b) Be involved in chapter activities for the current year the award is to be presented.
c) The nominee must have a positive reputation in areas of ethics, professional responsibility and standards.
d) If the nominee is a member of the Board of Directors, he/she must have done an outstanding job on his/her own portfolio.
e) The nominee will receive additional bonus points for this award if he/she has been actively involved in three or more chapter activities.
a) Current members of the Chapter's Awards Committee shall not be eligible for consideration during his/her term of office. However, should a member of the Awards Committee be nominated, he/she may be eligible through resignation from the Committee before deliberations by the Committee on the awards begin.
b) No more than one Chapter Member of the Year Award will be made in one given year. Selection of recipients is solely at the discretion of the Awards Committee.
a) Candidates for the award must be nominated by two (2) members of the ARMA-NCR Chapter (Ottawa) of ARMA International. Those two persons must be knowledgeable of the nominee's contributions and achievements. One of these members will be listed as the primary sponsor and initial point of contact with the Awards Committee. There are no self-nominations. The sponsors must show that the nominee did, in fact, achieve outstanding results through his/her own efforts.
b) Petitions of nomination must be addressed to the Chairman of the Awards Committee, contain the signature of the primary sponsor as well as the signature of the additional nominee (refer to Appendix I and II).
c) The nomination must be received by May 1.
d) Members of the Awards Committee may use its discretion and nominate an individual. However, that nomination will be evaluated and rated in the same manner as any other nomination that has been received by the Awards Committee.
The Awards Committee will be guided by the following for each eligible nominee:
a) Verify, as necessary, eligibility criteria.
b) The candidate with the highest number of points from the selection criteria will be the recipient of the Award.
The recipient of the Chapter Member of the Year Award:
a) will be announced at the Chapter's Annual General Meeting at which time the roll of honour will be presented to the recipient;
b) will have his/her name published in the menu of the Awards Banquet of the ARMA International Conference;
c) will have the award presented to him/her at the first monthly program meeting after the plaque has been received from ARMA International by the Chapter.
