Terms of Reference
Approved by the ARMA-NRC (Ottawa) Board of Directors on March 30th, 1999.
1. Purpose
The Special Achievement Award of ARMA-NCR (Ottawa) was established in 1982 to specifically recognize and focus on a pattern of significant contribution to the Chapter over a number of years by an individual member.
2. The Award
a) The Special Achievement Award shall include the following:
b) A plaque similar in shape and size to the ARMA International Chapter Member of the Year Award. The plaque will include the Chapter logo, the name of the recipient and the year the award was presented.
c) A roll of honour on a scroll with the name of the recipient inscribed and the year the award was presented.
d) The roll of honour shall be retained by the Chairman of the Awards Committee and will be displayed at appropriate Chapter functions throughout the year.
3. Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this award, a candidate must meet the following criteria:
a) The individual must be a current member of the Chapter at the time the nomination is received and must have been involved in one or more chapter activities for a period for a period greater than three consecutive years. OR
b) A group of individuals who have been working together on a special project for an extended period of time and who are members of the Chapter is also eligible.
c) The accomplishments of the individual or the group must be substantive and of direct benefit to the Chapter and the Association as a whole.
d) The nominees must have a positive reputation in areas of ethics, professional responsibility and standards.
e) The nominee will receive additional bonus points for this award if he/she is also actively involved in ARMA at the national and international levels.
4. Restrictions
a) Current members of the Chapter's Awards Committee shall not be eligible for consideration during his/her term of office. However, should a member of the Awards Committee be nominated, he/she may be eligible through resignation from the Committee before deliberations by the Committee on the awards begin.
b) No more than one Special Achievement Award will be made in one given year. Selection of recipients is solely at the discretion of the Awards Committee.
5. Nomination Process
a) Candidates for the award must be nominated by two (2) members of the ARMA-NCR (Ottawa) Chapter of ARMA International. Those two persons must be knowledgeable of the nominee's contributions and achievements. One of these members will be listed as the primary sponsor and initial point of contact with the Awards Committee. There are no self-nominations. The sponsors must show that the nominee did, in fact, achieve outstanding results through his/her own personal efforts.
b) Petitions of nomination must be addressed to the Chairman of the Awards Committee, contain the signature of the primary sponsor as well as the signature of the additional nominee (refer to Appendix I and II).

c) The nomination must be received by May 1.
d) Members of the Awards Committee may use its discretion and nominate an individual or group of individuals. However, that nomination will be evaluated and rated in the same manner as any other nomination that has been received by the Awards Committee.
6. Judging
a) The Awards Committee will be guided by the following for each eligible nominee:
b) Verify, as necessary, eligibility criteria.
c) Candidates must achieve a total of 80 points or more from the selection criteria.
d) Consensus by members of the Awards Committee will be required to bestow the award.
7. Announcement
a) The Special Achievement Award will be presented at the Chapter's Annual General Meeting
